That's a lot of memory to sort through, but The Silence Of The Lambs jumps to mind immediately. I don't like to get into the whole "Is the book or the movie better?" debate because I find them to be vastly different media with different dramatic requirements. That said, I think along with High Fidelity and About a Boy (both Nick Hornby books, oddly enough), The Silence Of The Lambs is a movie that improved on the book.
