    I found some stuff on wikipedia...

    Yandere (ヤンデレ?) - is a Japanese term for a person who is initially very loving and gentle to someone before their devotion becomes destructive in nature, often through violence.

    Funny word, nobody has heard of it at my house. The yan must come from yankii which is the word for young hooligans. The dere is probably from delicate.

    It is katakana. Usually words in katakana are from or made from English, although they can be from other languages and sometimes but rarely Japanese is put in katakana for effect.
