    Default 3 Bans In 3 Days

    This got me to thinking - what is it that people generally do to get temp or perm banned and when does what they are doing cross the line? In particular, I wonder about this when it occurs with longer term forum members. They're not new and it's not like they don't know the rules.

    What do they do? I reckon it varies, but usually it seems that a member insults another member in an obscene fashion. Why do they cross the line to the point that it earns them a ban? Probably because they're a bit idiotic...

    Eventually someone gets pissed off at cleaning it up.

    One of them had it coming from the moment he joined, one didn't know when to stop repeating himself after having been given a clear warning (I thought the length of the banning was harsh though), the other... eh, I'm not sure. I think there may have been some private issues which didn't come out much on the public forum.

    Do you mean cleaning up the threads that have been taken off track or is there more?

    From what I've seen, knowing the rules isn't an impediment to breaking them. It might even be an incentive in some cases.

    Repeated expression of negative and/or confrontational behaviour that shows no improvement. Maybe it's boredom or frustration, something they have to deal with in "real life", the forum could be their playground to vent or unleash the true animal inside () and at some point people start taking full advantage of that. When it comes to long term forum members, it's like they're pushing the limits to see what they can get away with. Newcomers who engage in such a behaviour...well, they were probably looking for it from the start or they take some negative experiences they have here and let it influence their whole forum experience. If they can't get over that but still stick around long enough then there's only one way out...

    I would prefer if most of them (if justified) would simply get sent to the Graveyard instead of being banned.

    Why is a short stay in the Graveyard not sufficient in most cases?

    I think Typo C is going through its Draconian era.

    Maybe limit banning via TypoC jury trial, with the benefit of due process, assumption of innocence and independent counsel.

    Z and SW were a bit harsh, in my views, but Lex had it coming... anyone who tells me that people like me should be bred out with eugenics is an asshole

    * and no, I didn't report him, but I'm glad he's gone!
