Your new place is lovely (congratulations) and of course spotless.

I have been straighten, cleaning and organizing all day. Our kids were out of school for five weeks and by my standards wrecked the house . They started back to school last Monday and I've just about gotten it back to the way I like it. I am thinking about having a cleaning service come every other week or once a month because it feels like all I do is clean. Is there a pill I can take to mellow out a bit?

cascademn - your place looks beautiful. Like a real home. If that makes sense?

cascademn: Nice place! Very homey. So-far, INFJs appear to maintain the most livable-looking environments and definitely have the best decorating skills.

Wolf, your place is very spacious! I think with all that white I'd be paranoid of spilling something though.

Cascade, I want to use the same word Wolf did for your place...homey. It looks very comfortable and livable. I love the wood accents and the plants all over.

Thanks! Ambience is pretty important to me, and I want to feel comfortable and relaxed while at home.

But believe me, my first apartment out of college was a far cry from this!!! It's been a gradual process, and now I don't want/need anything else. Most of the living room furniture (with the exception of the coffee table) is new as of last year. When I moved into this place last year, I decided it was high time to stop using my parents' old couch and chair from the 1970's (that I had covered up with a king-sized bedspread, due to the horrible plaid pattern)!! So my previous place was a little more eclectic than this one (which wasn't bad - just different).

    Thanks!

Other people have used the words 'warm' and 'cozy' to describe my decorating, so I guess that's my style!

Thanks! I'm impressed you noticed the wood accents!! I tend to go for more 'natural' decor, with world elements thrown in too.

I hate all of the mass-produced decorating stuff, so I try to avoid it. I want stuff that's more personalized and unique.

And yes, I love plants too.

Holy wow, you people have some clean places. Do you spend every minute you're not on this forum cleaning?

The funniest are the people that say something like "I'm very messy" and then post pics of their spotless house.

I am currently taking a break from burrowing through my son's room, I'm trying to clean it as a birthday present for him, man it's some hard work, though. And I hate to throw anything of his away, he is such a great collector, he's like WALL-E, except not as organized. And it's all a part of him and what makes him who he is, so I really want to just leave everything as it is, but I know it's not practical. The fun part is seeing the things he has created and collected in each sedimentary layer of stuff I wade through.

I will post pics in my personal thread when I get done with the project. I've still got a ways to go.

Thanks. Yeah, it's a really nice place, I like it a lot.

I've considered this, too, though it's hard to take that leap. Something about having other people keep your place up is like living in a hotel to me.

Not sure on the pill, and would you really want that?

Yeah, it's pretty reasonable in size.

I'm not too worried about spills, but the space in front of the couch in the middle of the living room might end up with a dark/swirly rug at some point.

    ...and the plants all over.

I have a number of them, too. Six on my desk, two on the counter, one on the table, one out by the front door, and two on the back deck/balcony. One of those is the hanging plant from my old place (I cut off the children and planted them in a pot, then placed the mother plant in the pot, now I have a lot of them in a pot), and the other is the missing plant from the counter - my Crassula ovata, which got mealybugs from some organic lettuce (this is a really bad thing about organic produce) about a month and a half ago and had to be moved outside to keep them from getting into my orchids. The sun burnt the hell out of the poor thing while I was out of town and it's now recovering, plus the bugs are almost gone, so in a couple months it'll probably be ready to return to the counter.
