I take it you're not a fan of slasher films.

And who brought up porn? A lot of that is about pain and suffering, too...while you're alive!

I brought up porn cause it's a classic example of something you view for absolutely no other purpose than to elicit certain very concrete emotions or ideas.

And I dunno about pure slashers but I like horror movies in general, which just further supports my point. The reason people are attracted to violence and horror is kind of debated, but among possible reasons is the thrill you get in the form of adrenaline, increased blood pressure and all the other various effects that happen when you are exposed to something potentially threatening. Horror movies tend to elicit the same response, but in a setting you ultimately know is perfectly safe. Even so, you can't control your own subconscious reactions to what's happening on the screen.

The whole point is that what you view can very easily affect you and elicit both psychological and physical responses, both desirable and undesirable.

I like jokes like that, but I'm a bit weird.
    Exactly what I meant.

And btw I know that this picture is horrible. But I honestly don't care. I don't even know that person. Y'know now that this person is squashed, he won't be contributing to global warming anymore, or consuming any more poor little animals. In fact, by dying that way he just contributed to the world by giving me an interesting picture to observe. I would care if it was someone I knew, and then I would be sorry. But for now, no. I could care less.

OMG this thread remind me of what happened in my Drama class today! Okay, so we had to get into groups and make up skits related to Christmas. Me and a few of my friends got together, and I and this one other guy started brainstorming out loud, and it ended up turning into an actual plot.

    So here it is:
A little orphan is selling matches on the street, where he encounters Santa Claus. He asks him if he would like to buy a match, and he refuses. Then he asks him for a present, but instead he says that he'd been a bad boy, and throws coal at him. He runs away, and encounters members of the Salvation Army (you know, those people that collect food and clothes for teh poor), and asks them for stuff, but instead they attack him and steal him clothing to use for the...poor people in Africa (or whatever). And then they take his matches and light him on fire after dousing him in oil. Suddenly out of nowhere, firefighters rescue him, saying, "Have a Merry Christmas, son." (Originally we were going to have Jesus rescue him, but the teacher wouldn't let us.)

And after we devised it we were LOLOLing, but the other people in our group were like omggg so CRUEL and NEGATIVE OMG *bitchbitchbitch* and we told them to STFU and to think of a story THEMSELVES then, and they could think of ANYTHING for the whole period. And in that time I came up with another story!:

A scrooge-type guy is at home, when carollers come to his door. He invites them in for hot chocolate, and drugs the drinks. Then while they're asleep, he takes advantage of them (which may or may not mean rape; it's really up to you) and locks them in his underground lair to be used as slaves! Lols!

They didn't like that one either! Except for the person that helped me make the first story.

    Laaaamme.

If that was ME under those tires, my Mom and Dad would probably suffer unneedlessly if they had run across this type of photo on the Internet. Also reading the jokes about my demise would just add more injury. *shudder*

I feel sorry for the pain that will be inflicted on his mother or father or other family members or friends who might have come across this picture of their loved one. It's heartless, and I just hope that never happens.

Meh... it's just an extension of the LOLcats/LOLjesus phenomenon:

The lol is just added to make it all seem more naive... like a child/1337-generation person commenting on it. That's why it's added in the gory pic... to make it sound like it's a child saying it in the leet world, increasing the contrast between the horrible RL pic and the naive artificial cyber reality-esque statement.

The images at loljesus.com had some of the pics I was referring to.

I still think the "LOL" is stupid.

Well, we can't all find the same things funny. I think it adds to the pictures because of the "reality meets naive teen computer nerd" aspect.

This image is without the LOL, but plays on the same contrast between virtual reality and real life (popped up a day or two after 9/11, I got coffe in my nose because of it. Now it's mostly harmless, but in the days after 9/11 it was rather powerful. And I was playing a lot of Counterstrike at the time.):

Now that one is good, but not the best 9/11 spoof I've seen.

    I personally enjoy this one:

No, it's not the best spoof by far, it was just so funny because it was the first and came so immediately after, before 9/11 had been abused and when the world was still in shock.

Love the something awful one (and a lot of the other stuff found there).

I only like the Photoshop stuff, the rest of the site is kinda lame.
