    Dude, that's hilarious!

The LOL is a bit much, I agree, but I think it's one of those jokes where it's funny that it isn't that funny. If they didn't have the LOL you might think they actually thought the joke was clever, while the actual joke is that the joke isn't that clever.

I like jokes like that, but I'm a bit weird.

And everyone's going to call me an asshole for not thinking the picture is horrible.

    I regret nothing!

Actually, on reflection, I think "too tired" would've been funnier. I mean, y'know, extend the pun - two tyred? Geddit?

I think the picture's horrible, but I can always appreciate wit when I see it, even if it's tasteless. I don't think that's really wit though... it's too obvious.

    Probably.

In all fairness, I didn't think it was funny until the caption was added (minus the "LOL," of course).

The image was just cool before that and I probably would've come up with the same pun.

I have to ask - what, about a picture of someone completely mutilated, is "cool"? I don't mind looking at it at all, but I am intensely curious as to what the appeal is. Is it just the awe of seeing something you never/rarely see irl or something else?

    I've seen worse.

Not funny either. Just kind of gross.

this is TOTALLY reminding me of a Scrubs episode where JD was going to break up with a girl (played by Mandy Moore) because she said "that's so funny!" instead of laughing when something amuzing occurred!

sorry- a bit irrelevant, but that's what it made me think of!

Hahaha!!! That was about the greatest response I've ever gotten!

It's cool because this stuff inspires awesome death scenes in movies. Watching this stuff happen in real life is like living in a movie. Some of us also go into mortuary science from being awed by these images. There is money to be made in the departed...

Besides, it's just a dead guy, since when has a dead person done anything to you? Or more pressing, what has a dead person done for you?

And for another one of my high-minded inquiries: Why do people find images of dead people gross? Most of us (who are not vegetarians) are not grossed out by ground beef, so why should we be grossed out by Mr. Ground Chuck?! (And I am not putting an "LOL" after my splendid wordplay!)

    Why would anyone watch porn?

I'd say certain emotions or ideas associated with what's pictured affect how you react or feel. If those implicated ideas or emotions are too strong, or come at you too fast, you get a reaction like say, getting grossed out. A mutilated corpse carries associations to extreme physical pain and suffering, often creating a strong aversive response even though you won't have time to consciouisly think about those things first.

Same thing happens when someone says or thinks 'OUCH' when they see a skateborder botching a rail and landing on his crown jewels.
