So I am FINALLY sitting down after a full year of procrastination to take care of this paperwork and it turns out I need this one number that I can't find. The office I could call to ask closed an hour ago (at 3:30 pm!!!)
The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge. Neither love without knowledge, nor knowledge without love can produce a good life. - Bertrand Russell A herring's blog Johari / Nohari
[we interrupt this program for some INFP e4 shadow melodrama]
I can't trust anyone. I will never be able to trust anyone. My life will consist of cycles of year-long friendships with no deep connection or sense of emotional safety. Because everyone is untrustworthy and everyone will disappoint me somehow.
Screw all of this. I hate humanity. I wish I could be happy alone.
[/melodrama][/don't worry I'll be less sensitive in the morning]
This is one of my go-to songs. It's versatile.
"I took one those personality tests. It came back negative." - Dan Mintz
My rant: Who the fuck should care anyway? We are way too obsessed with celebrities, we live in a culture which basically worships the idea of being one. It is narcissism incarnate. There are a million more important things to discuss than some football player's family life.
Some feminist facebook page shared this example of really lazy twitter rhetoric (based on a corruption of a literary quote). I'm not anti-feminist, but I'm anti people willfully negating Ti and emotively throwing away any iota of critical thinking. I'll decide whether or not I'm going to delete my comment, but don't want it to go completely to waste, so enjoy my rant
"With apologies to @MargaretAtwood: "Women are angry that men keep killing them. Men are angry that women can block them on twitter"
The argument that "men keep killing them" is specious at best and spurious at worse. Yes, domestic violence and homicide is a serious and widespread problem but to equate it to "men keep killing them" is a facile analysis, because it would only be reasonable if the gender ratio in the subsection of murder perpetrators and murder victims was disproportionate to the approximately 50/50 makeup.
According to the FBI Expanded Homicide Data (2010)
"Of the 12,996 murder victims in 2010 for which supplemental data were received, most (77.4 percent) were male."
"Of the offenders for whom gender was known, 90.3 percent were males"
From this, it is evident by a substantial margin that female gender is a protective factor against getting involved in homicide at both ends. When a human being kills another human being, it is a very large majority of the time, a man killing a man.
Yes, there is horrific domestic violence that so often turns fatal, but this tumblr quip implies the false assumption most murder victims are female.
By sharing such a facile and intellectually lazy rhetoric, all whom proudly share this are just giving their facebook peers the heads up that they do not possess the instrument of critical thinking to form cogent opinions, and therefore, their opinion on anything should be ignored.
