Same here. I don't get allergies at all, and it makes me feel slightly guilty when I see everyone else around me wiping their eyes and noses, and generally feeling miserable.

What the hell is with all the snake killing so people feel safe and their kids can play outside that I see on Facebook? If your kids (and you) can't learn to coexist with snakes, you shouldn't live out in the country or suburbs. Don't be a dick to nature.

The only way the above would make sense would be if you were talking about the Everglades (which is overpopulated with formerly domesticated snakes). Otherwise I completely agree with you.

So there are a lot of boa constrictors in there? What other kinds of species are common? I know invasive species are a bad thing, but I think the idea of having all these jungles snakes running wild in the U.S. is appealing to me on some level.

(Shouldn't have used the word "domesticated" before, sorry. Sold as exotic pets, is what I meant.)

Wow, apparently those snakes can take down a whole deer. I'm not sure if the mainland Florida deer are as small as the key deer, but still, that's impressive.

I love snakes. I always have. I saw a dead snake on the sidewalk a week or two ago. Snakes don't get that big here, and it's not that common to see them, but seeing them dead did not make me happy.

Other creatures I like are coyotes and bats. I prefer the misunderstood members of the animal kingdom.

my mom still likes to tell people the story of the time she sent me out with scraps for the dog and I took longer than she expected... she looked out the window and I was busy offering them to a 6 foot long black rat snake who was coiled up in the middle of the driveway... I was about 4 or 5 at the time and she thought it was the cutest thing ever

snakes, spiders, bats, coyotes, lizards... all animals have a cute side
