@93JC I wonder if this is Canadian vs. American grocery store etiquette.

Well this IS The Rant Thread. People can rant about pretty much whatever they want.

(also there are some pretty damn important and rant-worthy things that are lightweight and made of plastic. Like credit cards.)

credit cards are important. but this is a dumb thing to rant about. it is. i'm not gonna be empathetic over an item divider. if i was i'd have to be that last time you got a paper cut. you're not dead and it didn't get infected so your finger is still attached.

and if i ranted the same thing someone would do the samething and it be ok. because they're obviously a better person.

First you tell me you don't take your shoes off when you enter someone else's home; now you tell me you don't even have the common courtesy to put the little plastic divider down behind your groceries?

What next? I suppose you don't hold doors open for others, you cut in line and you put cans and bottles in the garbage bin!

We still end up putting a divider down. Does it really matter whether it's behind or in front of your groceries? It's still contributing to the dividedness of the conveyor belt.

    Whatever, man. Canadians are weird.

Pretty much. I always hold doors open for people, but I rarely see others do it. And cutting in line is just downright uncivilized. Maybe it's an echo of my mostly English ancestry, but I'm honestly embarrassed by the lack of manners in America.

Have you ever had anyone object when you attempt to hold the door for them?
I've only had a couple who did; more often, I have people fail to hold the door for me, even if my hands are full...
