Ah. Electronics these days are moving very swiftly toward online manuals. I bet if you read the fine print on the "quick-start" or "quick set-up" leaflet that came with the printer you'll find a little blurb like "For more information, visit www.canon.com".

I bought Grand Theft Auto V a few days after it came out (week and a half ago, something like that) and was a little dismayed when I cracked it open and found the 'manual' was just a two-page pamphlet. The instructions are presented on-screen when you play, and if you need more info you can download an 'app' from the internet. The 'app' is the complete manual.

(and no the couch ain't Ikea, either.. I've never been in an Ikea)
It's interesting if only for the very deliberate psychological warfare the stores' designers wage against the average consumer. Those Swedes are evil geniuses. The store is laid out in departments but it's not open plan like a regular department store. There's an entrance and an exit, and in order to get from one end of the store to the other you're supposed to walk along a marked path that meanders through the entire store. It forces the consumers to see EVERYTHING in the store; it's really quite brilliant.

I'd purposely wait for someone to use the entrance & make my escape.

Mass media sucks. Wtf, world. Get it together!
    You hem me in -- behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Ah, but it's not that simple. If you're buying furniture you pick it up in a warehouse at the very end, just before the enormous row of cashiers. If you know precisely what you want you can cut through a lot of the store (they have to have at least a few pass-throughs to meet building/fire codes) and go to the end as quickly as possible, but otherwise you'd have to walk the store with the rest of the plebes.

I'd leave through a fire escape, faking an asthma attack.

"I needed to get my inhaler out of my car, jerks."

Maybe I'd just buy some mice & liberate them in various parts of the store, actually.

    Insomnia's bad m'Kay.

So at my sister's wedding, one woman dragged me around the dance floor by my tie. Why is it that I am only now realizing she may have been attracted to me?

My gums are receding. They have been doing so for some time but I cannot stop its drive or its advance. It is sobering and a symbol for something greater as I cannot reverse the damage. At best I can cover it up. It has become a symbol for age.

My hair is yet to thin and my decade old bald patch is yet to expand its territory but occasionally I ache and I feel weary. I am only 26 yet I wonder whether I have jumped the shark as my body is working against me. It remains to be seen whether this behaviour will become ever more troublesome.

I wonder whether my best years slipped past me despite my awareness that the good days would not last forever and that ny youth would fade. However I still let them turn into dust. A shame. Tis a shame.

I may be overreacting of course. But whether I am or not my teeth in the aforementioned receding areas are much more sensitive and right now a minor ache emanates from them constantly as if it were white noise. It is a nuisance and one I would have to get used to.

Then again, I don't want to waste money on Xbox Live Gold.
