Oh honey, unless you turn into a sugar craving, you're fine <3

Terrible things happen to good people every day.
Consequentially, I am not one of the good people.
I am one of the terrible things.

    Whew! Excellent.

The only place where I'd want a cactus is on my windowsill.

It's mostly that I have this super fun trip coming up and will probably be coughing through the whole thing.

Ugh. It seems that, lately, I only come to TC to complain about editors. I'm sincerely sorry for that, but I'm in need of a sounding board and I've bothered my family way more than I should already.

So I send in a manuscript to 12 publishers. After a few weeks, I start getting rejections. After two months, about half of them haven't answered yet. Then a cruel thing happens: I start getting hope.
After three or four months, I get more rejection slips, telling me "my manuscript doesn't fit in their fund". What? Not fitting in a fund means, eg, that I sent in a fantasy story and they don't do fantasy. Did it really take three months to see my manuscript is fantasy? I told you litterally so in my letter. If you don't read the letters and you dive directly into the manuscript, there are dragons on the very first page. So I guess the real reason is something else. Didn't you like it? Were there too many spelling errors? You just published something similar? Please tell me! I don't care if you hurt my feelings. I want to know and I want to do better next time!
And then six months have passed, and some of you still haven't answered. I called you. And I hear things like "Six months? Really? You should have had an answer by now. I'm glad you called. We're going to check this immediately."
This really sounds like it's an exceptional thing, some rare error like misplacing the manuscript. Except it isn't. Being the nerd that I am, I keep statistics. About one in six times it takes longer than half a year. And every time you act surprised like that.
Please. How much time will this "immediately" take? It already took one month. A week ago, I've called again and got the same answer. I'll call again within a week. This isn't how you treat people. Okay, I'm not a paying client. I'm a candidate writer. But still, you've got to keep your word.

    Thanks for listening.

If it's going to snow and ice and do this "wintery mix" bull shit I wish it would just hurry up and get the show on the road. Preferably before I leave work so I have the chance to go home early.

Yikes! I get them semi-regularly, but never anywhere near that long. I had one last night.
