Get this at your local drugstore:
Nutra Nail "Bullet Proof Strength"* Kevlar Fiber Formula

    Works pretty well, protecting them.

So, apparently I just can't use the kind of umbrella girls/women use, because I'm "a grown man like you [that is, me]". Even if my own umbrella is misplaced and the weather could worsen.

How about no, thank you, keep your arbitrary and pretty fricking pointless gender norms to yourselves?

No, that won't backfire when someone reports your suspicious activity.
As much as I appreciate the intention of those who want to protect the neighborhood.. I think bringing up your military background, telling us how many guns you have, and superceding the actual policeman who joined our meeting is not so productive.

We're told that we ought to band together. We're told that we should meet everyone who passes by. We also had a discussion on when it is and isn't okay to shoot other people. I think we decided that the only criterion is that you have to legitimately be fearful for your life--which everyone probably now is because of this discussion.

This makes me even more hesitant to join in. I do not trust my neighborhood to have not taken this whole thing overboard--to treat it as some sort of witch hunt. We have a very, very low crime rate, but nobody knows about the phenomenon of the availability heuristic. An anecdote or two doesn't actually tell us much.

I almost expected to hear -- "Be ever vigilant! Buy war bonds! Kill the [racial slur], and protect our nation!"

    - Fuck the rain
    - Fuck my phones inability to upload a vid (for my business) to youtube for whatever reason
    - Fuck having to delete a bunch of photos to fit the vid on my phone, and in the process deleting a bunch of photos of me and my most recent ex when in turn fucks up my mood even more
    - Seriously... fuck the inevitable lamentations of lost love
    - Fuck my client that thinks todays meeting was tomorrow, which forced me to waste gas driving to the other side of Narnia to a meeting that never happened

If today was a person, I would beat it with a rubber garden hose until my arm got tired.

Aaaargh, unauthorized charges on my account so I had to cancel my card and I'm leaving town in a few days, the replacement card is not going to get here in time.

    This sucks.

I did manage to get the charge removed, so that's something.
