I voted yes because in the OP you added "comments" to your question. I received a half positive, half negative comment that hurt my feelings a little, but they gave me positive points, not negative points.

I don't believe people should be allowed to take away your reputation points with their negative opinion. Some people do take these things seriously.

I tried editing the poll, but I'm beginning to doubt that I can.

Might be interesting to poll people who have given negative comments... my theory is there's where the most opposition comes from.

However, y'know there's another side to this.... sometimes I've wanted to say something nice to someone, but felt a bit shy of doing it, like they might think I'm creepy or something, or take it the wrong way, or something, so I've been afraid to say it... and with some people, specially some of the 'all star' types, there's a worry that they might sorta think 'oh like i care what YOU think'. Sometimes people can be mean like that... you try to be nice to them and they rebuff you. Happened to me once or twice on INTPc, when I PMed someone to say something nice, give a compliment, and got an answer to the effect of "yeah right, I would be pleased if I were the kind of sad person that wrote things for YOUR approval" or similar, and though sometimes it's just joking around, it's not always easy to tell and it can still be hurtful. Some insecure people (like me) fear that happening every time they're nice... and so keep at a distance.

So I think anonymity could be an outlet for positive stuff as well as negative.

Not a bad idea, I can post the poll or you, it doesn't matter. Though I say keep it the results anonymous, because I doubt some people would admit to leaving a negative comment if their username was shown.

I haven't gotten any comments, just reputation points. (I would be an "other" in the poll.)
