PinkP, a long time ago I wrote a punk version of "Blue Christmas."

It's called "Black and Blue Christmas," and one of the lines was provided by our own Jennifer.

I'll have a black and blue Christmas without you
I'll have a black and blue Christmas without you
    And if you were here
I would push you down the stairs
And we'd have a black and blue Christmas

You have to imagine it in cut time, fast, and the drummer's got a heavy foot on the bass pedal. Lead vocals have to have a strong west-end Londoner accent. =]

The lead guitar can throw in a little single-string solo rendering of the background vocals from Elvis's version if she so desires.

LOL! Where's the lyric where the pushee grabs your pantsleg and hauls you down with her?

    Second verse, female lead:

I'll have a black and blue Christmas without you
I'll have a black and blue Christmas without you
    I'll grab your hair
When you push me down the stairs
And we'll have a black and blue Christmas

Coma by Max Sharam. A song which I doubt made it out of Australia, but a worthy one. This one was being played on the radio on a Summer holiday and I forever associate it now with Summer holidays. And pot. Very sweet voice.

Similarly, while I am talking about sweet Australian Summer-holiday voices, here is Bizarre Love Triangle by Frente. I think this one may possibly be known outside Australia, but I don't know for sure.

I was smitten by both of those women immediately upon hearing their respective songs, with no idea what either of them looked like. I moped for weeks. It was glorious.

    What Child is This
    O Come All Ye Faithful
    O Holy Night
    Handel's Messiah
    Silent Night

The only ones I really don't like are the nonsensical ones, like lecky mentioned, and most of the more modern ones.

And Feliz Navidad. I really hate that one.

Over the radio just came an advertisement for another favorite, if an opera: Amahl and the Night Visitors. Ten years ago, I was impressed and platooned to sing "the Page" in a little production with a Syracuse troupe that deployed carnival (full-body) puppets.
