    Default Snow's A'comin'!

Everyone is in a tizzy here.

Northern East Coast of the USA and there will supposedly be two feet of snow here overnight. Who knows? It's getting chilly.

I am scared to go to the store. I bet soccer moms are killing each other in the aisle over eggs, bread, and milk, while single guys are breaking rib cages and spines over who gets the last frozen pizza. People get crazy when it snows. It's absurd.

I want to go home. That probably won't happen.

My weenie Department Head pulled a typical weenie move... He came around and said, "due to the bad weather, if you want to go home when it starts snowing, you can..."

    pause

finished by, "... if you want to work at home or want to make up the time."

Dude, I'm a programmer on multi-million dollar systems who needs VPN access to VSS to grab files if I am to work from home... and the company never gave me a setup at home to do that. My home system sucks. I've NEVER worked from home.

And if the weather's bad, why on earth would I want to come in LATER and make up hours?

Best of all: Our schedules are already flexible, we can come and go as we please... as long as we make up the time. He was giving us permission to do what people are already doing and making himself look generous in the process.

Everything wishes he would go away.
Maybe we could bury him in snow.

... how long will this blizzard last?
I hope it's not like The Mist.
    The ending was pretty rotten.

I've had enough of all the snow here in the Netherlands. A winter here should at most be 2-5 days of show. But we've been in snow for weeks now. Grr.

Can't wait for global warming to kick in!

as long as there's not a blizzard in either Chicago or Pittsburg on the 12th. I know Chicago's airport's have heated runways, but I don't know about Pittsburg. I'mma be sad if I can't go see my mom's side of the family because my flight gets canceled. fuck you wintry weather!

we've actually not had as much snow as we've had in the past, most of the years I've lived here we've had it snow about every other day. this year it seems to only snow once a week, though the lake's frozen.
    In no likes experiment.

    that is all

i dunno what else to say so

When I went to Portland last weekend, the weather there was about 45-50 degrees.

    It makes me laugh.
    Context matters.
If you're used to 20-25 degree weather, you change into shorts and a t-shirt when it's 50 degrees. However, if it's July and it suddenly goes to 50 degrees, you put on a sweater.

I'm in the tizzy zone, too. I don't work on Fridays anyway, but if i did, I'd be taking off, period, and we could talk about me "making up the time" when I got back! I went to the grocery store this morning, figured I'd better go while I could, was just missing a couple of ingredients for a recipe. It was pretty well cleaned out. I thought it was funny the beer aisle was especially empty -- and there were no potatoes. Invasion of the Irish??

Either that, or the funnelator crowd ran out of balloons and had to come up with something else.

I left work at 6:30pm tonight, expecting a madhouse. But people are so freaked here, they all made their bank and grocery runs in morning and midday. The banks all said earlier in the day was crazy busy, and there really was only a modest amount of people at the grocery at that time of the evening.

It's snowing. Not much laying yet, but the roads were already slippery.
