Movies. Even I didn't like one movie that was part of a franchise, I still feel compelled to collect all the movies. For example, I liked Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 but I didn't think much of Spider-Man 3. Still, I felt the need to buy the DVD because it just didn't feel right not having it.
Oh yes, and of course, I collect video games, most of which I don't play as of now (I'm stuck playing Crysis right now), but I don't plan on getting rid of the ones I don't play...perhaps I'll come back to them.
Didn't use to collect anything at all - tried to several times but just couldn't really get my heart into it, or see the appeal of accumulating clutter and just 'stuff', being more inclined really to go the opposite way: ruthless clearouts on a regular basis.
But in recent years, I've sort of accidentally collected old tins, particularly toffee and cocoa. Started when I was clearing out under the floors of an old church and found a bunch of toffee tins from pre-WWI, some of which were in superb condition. I'd been gradually decreasing the amount of plastic in my house for quite some time (just hate the look of it) and replacing anything plastic with wood, glass, metal or ceramic versions, but was at a loss when it came to those plastic tubs that are so handy in the kitchen. When I saw these toffee tins, I said to myself, "They're perfect!! I'll have those TYVM!"
There were about twelve that were in really good condition dating between 1915 and the late 50's, but then later i found one from 1904 in my nan's house when I was clearing that out, which is now my pride and joy, along with a French coffee tin from 1878
And once everyone realised I like them, I started getting them for Christmas, birthdays, Easter and fêtes (French tradition - giving someone a gift on the day of the saint they're named after). They're all over my kitchen now, full of rice, porridge oats, cocoa, pasta, frumenty, herbs and spices and - well, you name it!
