Default Video games versus foruming/social networking: Which is better?

There's no shortage of video game nerds on this site, but we obviously at least have some interest in forums, and sometimes social networks.

    Which do you like more?

I enjoy a rare forum (basically, this one), but I'm not interested in the "broadcast the details of your life to the world" aspect of social networking. I'd rather just use email for a targeted audience for that sort of thing.

So, video games -- although I'm *really* picky, I do get into the ones I like.

Games. I only post as much as I do lately because my MB + vid card took a big shit, now I can't play UT2004

I can feel my shot atrophying as I type this.

Whenever I lose my touch on COD I go through complete cleansing rituals. Lately I've been listening to the new Mass Effect trailer and it pumps me up for domination.

Meh. I like both. Where's the option of both? Or neither? And I prefer foruming to social networking.

When one starts to bore me, I turn to the other. With video games, it's just you and the game, all in your head. Forums bring an element of "human connection", so you have no choice but to come out of your head. I like to toggle between the two whenever I feel like it. Lately, this forum here is winning, big time.

Both provide instant gratification, but forums provide more intellectual stimulation and the opportunity to practice the dying art of writing.

Don't know about the intellectual stimulation part. Haven't found a thread as stimulating as Portal, Braid, or Fantastic Contraption.
