Thread: What made you happy today?

@93JC - Thanks for teaching me a new word. I never knew those things were called "carillons."

A small and childish thing made me happy today. In my anatomy book, instead of having two figure for the endocrine system, they just had one. This made for an awkward figure of a man with both a penis and a uterus. For some reason I found it hilarious and started laughing like crazy.

Getting a s'more kit from my RA.

It's going to be so nice, making s'mores over our gas stove, listening to Hurricane Sandy raging outside...

I feel ya. The carillon on my university campus is also electronic -- and what makes it worse is that it's mis-programmed and no one's fixed it since I got to campus.

On the hour, it's supposed to go "dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun" -- pardon the approximation, I would sing it for you but that can't really happen in a post -- but instead it goes "dun... dun dun... dun... dun... dun da-dun... dun..." In other words: accidental syncopation!

It mostly drives me crazy because my mother is a carillonneur/organist at our local university, so I grew up going to the bell tower with her and hearing her play. I didn't even know electronic carillons existed until my freshman year!
    and it's nice enough to
    make a man
    weep, but I don't
    weep, do
    you?

Try imagining that it's Neil Peart.

Hmm...do you suppose it could be tweaked to play "YYZ"?

I know what needs to be done and the realization and execution is within my hands and that is glorious.

So many possibilities to fold and unfold like origami flowers blooming in a paper garden. The power to shape the flowers into stars or tigers or the ocean as I need to.

The terrible day made you happy. Well, guess some people get off on odd things.

Me - an epiphany. Also a plan in motion, but only semi-happy - I'm unaware of the result yet.
