Finished both grocery and Christmas shopping. Two run-ins with old folk.
One Russian lady who didn't speak English very well was trying to figure out the price of 24 rolls of toilet paper. The price was easy to explain to her. What took 20 minutes was the concept of a club card to get the sale price. The best way to communicate with individuals who are hearing impaired and don't speak English, is to gradually raise your voice while speaking ever slower. If nothing else, you feel better afterwards.
One little old man at the check-out dropped his Amex and Air Miles card on the ground. I told him about it and he didn't thank me. Then, when he finally got everything back into his wallet, he tried to take one of my bags of groceries, along with his. I stopped him again.
Remind me never to help old people again. Merry Christmas!
