Sometimes I reckon that I'm destined to see-saw between anger and despair any time I take the pulse of what constitutes moral or political discourse. Should it be opinions on a forum, collumns in a newspaper, pundits, pseudo-intellectuals or protestors. I see total moral decay celebrated as evidence of freedom and objection, let alone prohibitive law, roundly attacked from all quarters.
I see people at their very worst or most base celebrated as the finest examples of honesty or humanity and wonder why no one else has any qualms about it, instead going so far as to attack those who do as capricious tyrants whose objections are only thin vials for some unsatisfied perverse need for control.
Most of the time what is being discussed is actually silently or quietly recognised as reprehensible in some way so instead of discussing a particular behaviour or conduct its side stepped altogether and instead abstract concepts like freedom are argued instead.
Whatever way this pans out, usually as some kind of pissing contest or competition to appear the cleverest or even the most militant and myopic exponent of an ideology, I cant help but think that the ideas have consequences being repeated by the impressionable, less clever and even the disturbed or maladapted with pride.
Contemporary libertarianism has almost ruined the concept of liberty altogether, I'm either cynical or losing hope.
