    I hope I don't do this, but I have a strong feeling I do.

FP types seem to be able to connect with just about anyone. The main difference is that being Fi, they are always holding themselves back as much as any TJ type. You're talking with Se or Ne, not their Fi.

There's nothing wrong with this. The point of typology is to see the patterns so you can navigate them. So, for example, with FP types, you know that you haven't really connected until you get a lot deeper with them, where they share the "horrible" parts of themselves, those things they were hiding. And even then, there are always "horribler" parts that they are still too ashamed to share. Real trust is cultivated slowly with these types, and it's founded on a rather harsh honesty that most people don't want to deal with - not even the FPs themselves.
An argument is two people sharing their ignorance.

A discussion is two people sharing their understanding, even when they disagree.

It can sometimes bother me when someone isn't as readily open to a new perspective or idea as I would like them to be, and are quick to come to some conclusion, but I have to remind myself, and I surprise myself with how often I forget, that not everyone approaches things the same way I do. Not everyone thinks as I do. It's so simple a fact, and I need to be ok with that.

That was my lesson, too. Not everyone thinks like me.

That said, FP and TP types are just as quick to come to conclusions, but they aren't as open about it (because Fi and Ti are introverted). They'll talk like they're open-minded, but when push comes to shove, their biases and bigotry are just as fixed as any Te or Fe types. I say this not to impugn anyone. We're all human, we're all hypocrites ... and we're never so hypocritical as when we point out others' hypocrisy. (Which in turns points out how hypocritical I am with this post! It's kind of an endless recursion of hypocrisy.)

I have this bad habit of waiting until my mom goes to sleep to get something to eat. It makes me stay up too late.
