I came home and was complaining about that to my dad and it turns out he had the exact same thing happen when he was stationed in Germany and spent 18 months feeling like the sun was rising in the west and setting in the east

getting something stuck in your brain like that is weird because you KNOW what's right but it feels completely wrong
Oh see I'll just determine where north is before I get there by staring at maps and aligning north with the most common grid structures on the streets . It's something I have done since I was a child. Must know where north is in new places. Incidentally, it's extremely rare for me to get lost anywhere.

I ALWAYS know where north is and never get lost... I just kind of went there on a whim and did no research beforehand because I was a stupid young thing busy being IN LOVE with some idiot guy and didn't end up doing nearly enough research. Trying to figure it out based on the geography of the town wouldn't have worked either... it had a really weird layout and not very many straight streets and even those that were ran at an angle It's like the town that Escher designed or something.

An argument is two people sharing their ignorance.

A discussion is two people sharing their understanding, even when they disagree.
