OK, just did my ENFJ good deed of the day.

While waiting at the lab for my son's test, I chatted up one of my fellow sufferers in the ice box lobby. We ultimately got around to the fact she has wanted to move back to her home town since her husband died years ago, but has been held back by her stuff.

We discussed decluttering and being free of possessions (which often end up controlling us). She left excited to get rid of her junk and move back to her home town she has wanted to move back to for 20 years.....

Small helps, small improvements, a better world....

To be clear though, the last time the French used the guillotine was 1977. That's kinda late.

well... the US DOES strap people down and put poison in their veins and consider it humane... or electrocute them in a chair... can't say a guillotine sounds much worse than that

we actually have gas chambers in three states, death by firing squad is legal in two states and you can still be hanged in Washington State apparently

Dumb Laws in United States. Crazy United States Laws. We have weird laws, strange laws, and just plain crazy laws!

Stupid laws are ubiquitous to all states and countries. Politicians in general are not known for being meticulously logical and reasonable.

In my opinion, some of the stupidest of laws are the ones that sound entirely reasonable, but end up having unintended consequences often quite opposite of the lawmaker's intentions.
An argument is two people sharing their ignorance.

A discussion is two people sharing their understanding, even when they disagree.

I'm kind of shocked that they uaed the guillotine that late. It seems like such an amachronism.

The guillotine remained the official method of execution in France until the death penalty was abolished in 1981.[2] The final three guillotinings in France before abolition were those of child-murderers Christian Ranucci on 28 July 1976 in Marseille and Jérôme Carrein on 23 June 1977 in Douai, and torturer-murderer Hamida Djandoubi on 10 September 1977 in Marseille.
Hamida Djandoubi (Arabic: حميدة جندوبي‎) (c. 1949 – 10 September 1977) was the last person to be executed in France,[1] and the last person legally executed by beheading in the Western world. He was a Tunisian immigrant who had been convicted of the torture and murder of 21-year-old Elisabeth Bousquet in Marseille. Marcel Chevalier served as chief executioner.[2]
I just looked at how it was over here:

In Slovenia the last execution was a hanging which took place in 1957. The death penalty was abolished in 1989 when Slovenia was still a federal republic of the former Yugoslavia. When Slovenia introduced its democratic constitution on the 23 December 1991 capital punishment became unconstitutional.
