Someone just picked an arbitrary date in history to start and then people tried to create some special meaning for it.

It ignores the vast amount of international relations prior to that, which largely represent a continuum rather than a disconnect.....
I find all this interesting too, its part of the inspiration behind the thread I created about historical knowledge and a book I bought lately on the history of christian europe.

I dont buy any of the illuminati theories and regard them as warmed over anti-semitism of the kind that was popular before the last world war in Germany, also perhaps a lot of it is primed by the popularity of games like assasins creed and a lot of earlier stupid templar knight and assasins myths and legends made popular by the Dan Brown books but the people who believe those things are among the only ones I find who're interested in things like this.

I'd say the katana melee build is the most fun, as it's really fast, and the game seems to just fly by. No long drawn out battles because you get more hits in just by running up and slicing them to death. I work in the unarmed a bit later once it can bring me some of the nicer perks like Paralyzing Palm.

The fun perks to get in New Vegas melee/unarmed build:

Super slam: all your hits have a chance of knocking opponents down. This is huge.
Unstoppable force: more damage goes through enemy blocks
Purifier: +50% damage to tough enemies like deathclaws and super mutants
Paralyzing Palm: unarmed VATS attack can paralyze enemy for 30 seconds
Ninja: +15% critical chance with melee and unarmed (you said you liked crits! This is better than getting a 10 Luck)
Slayer: speed of melee/unarmed attacks increased by 30%

Dammit, now you're making me want to play a melee/unarmed character again! And only 2 days before Fallout 4. Hmm - maybe melee/unarmed first for that game?

I do have a character save right after goodsprings, before it gives you the change to remake your character....

BBC Radio 4 Extra - The Moth Radio Hour, Live at Town Hall, New York

I wonder if anyone outside of the UK can use this link?

Its got a lot of stories, from something called The Moth, in which they arrange people to tell life stories.

Finally fixed gas leak cometely. Gas company shut off gas a couple weeks ago and spent a week or so trying to decide if I wanted to fix it myself as it seemed like leak was from rusted pipe. Would have to dig up about 60 ft x 2ftx2ft hole to replace current black iron with gas pe pipe. Found that someone hit meter and leak was at base about 18 in straight underground of meter. Bought everything needed and fixed it. Then did a pressure check and took a couple days to find 2 other small leaks with old valves. Water/soap provided no bubbles, but was leaking about 1psi per hour. Holding right now can't wait to have hot water again. Been going to parents for hot showers.

Inspected Monday and hopefully call gas company to turn gas back on.
Take what I say with a grain of salt, because that's all it is compared to the ocean of complexity when it comes to actions and real life.

There is a lot of good history out there, depending on your topic. Newer does not always mean better in history, but sometimes does.

One book you might find interesting from an earlier time is A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman, looking at the 14th century. Tuchman was an a Pultizer Prize winning historian from yesteryear, but is very readable and interesting. She has many good books on many topics.

I have never played like this. I am usually a sneaking, long range. I never do close range fighting..... time to restart New Vegas (I am waiting on Fallout 4 for various reasons......)

I'm sorry that was me. It was a GWAR video, but then, on second thought... considered it might have been misconstrued from the actual intention of its association. Here's your much deserved love, prpl. (it was this or the Holocaust of the Carrots)

    Yoga pants...
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... Some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age.
