Banana tree. Crazy and a little bit awesome. They retain their leaves from year to year??? Apparently.
I'm more awed by snow--real, genuine SNOW, on the ground. I've only seen it one time.
They usually die during the winter. Or at the very least, just stop growing. Banana trees will regenerate because they grow from a corm. If you don't want them in your yard, you have to dig the corm out, otherwise it will just regrow after cutting it down. They grow fairly quickly, too.
The leaves make good wrappings to cook certain foods in. Yum!
Right now, I wish I didn't have a conscience. Would be so much easier to do the wrong thing right now.
