Is it pathetic, though I wish him well, to still hold out a shred of hope (I can't seem to kill it) that things might still work out?

    Yes, yes it is.

Ah my local cafe put up an advert:

'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

Suppose a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?"
"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.
    Piglet was comforted by this.
    - A.A. Milne.

Wish people would realize when they throw a fit because you did something wrong, the next time the situation happens and they joke about it they will be the only one laughing. The other will just roll their eyes and contemplate doing it again a just to watch the other person bitch and show who they really are.

On the other hand, they don't bitch and next time it will be just more of a playful thing. Something to banter about like playful fighting/arguing. The best things to argue about are the ones that don't matter because those are the ones where neither take seriously, it's just playful/fun bantering
    Im out, its been fun

This whale is practically a celebrity. It already has its own entourage.
