I'll trust authorities, but only when they engage in behavior that is worthy of my trust. I've gotten burned too many times before, both online and off. I'm not going to take someone's word for something just because they told me that they are one of the trustworthy people.
I consider that to be morally wrong.
Putting this a little more bluntly:
I don't care whether or not someone has good intentions in these situations, and I wish people would stop invoking that as a justification. Actions have consequences. You should think really hard about the consequences of those actions. If you're not willing to do that, and just want to hide behind the shield of being one of the good guys, you shouldn't be seeking power. You won't have my support, at the very least.

I've always wanted to play that bizzare game called Bad Mojo where you play a guy who's turned into a cockroach, but never got around to it. Now I've just bought the remake and am about to try it out. This should be interesting.
