Why do I come across so many condescending people? And what do they get out of being so patronising?

    Tired of life.

I'm going to have & enjoy super powers. The only reason why I haven't touched anyone was because I was aware.

You mean was a day he was doubly tempted to destroy the world?

I feel like that most Tuesdays.

Its not even my worst day of the week, which is a toss up between wednesday and thursdays.

    I get this a lot.

It annoys me even more because most of the time they are not that intelligent as to have anything to be condescending about.

Sometimes I'll let them have their moment because its so obvious the case to me and I think let them have it, they probably know the rest of the time that they are not that smart or have a creeping suspiscion about it, although rest of the time I dont feel like letting anyone have anything who doesnt deserve it.

I either ignore them and pretend I didn't hear their comment and act like they don't exist for that time being, or shut them up by proving they don't know half as much as they think they do. They're among my least favourite type of people. But I really don't see what they gain, a false sense of superiority? Why would you want that.

I don't think anyone deserves to be condescending, for any reason. I mean, has there ever been a situation in human history when being condescending helped matters at all?

Oftentimes, condescending people don't realize they're being condescending.

Other times, victims of "condescension" can be projecting, feeling that someone is talking to them as if they're an idiot when the cause of the "condescending" tone is entirely different. E.g., a hostile, combative person can regard a peaceful placating tone as condescending.

An argument is two people sharing their ignorance.

A discussion is two people sharing their understanding, even when they disagree.

I really hate this sort of thing. There are certain people I'm friends with who I can never have an intellectual debate with, because when they inevitably make the impersonal personal, they'll accuse me of being condescending and arrogant.
