My mum has recently taken to a bad habit of watching truly reprehensible, direct to television, Christmas movies. They usually have some flavour of meddling individual trying to bring together two distant, ex or divorced individuals in order for them to realise Christmas is all about their selfish love....oh and some kids thrown in to help push things along and add 'innocence'. Now I know hating sugary sweet stuff like this is a trope in itself and I'm just perpetuating a cliche chain, but I just can't stand this stuff hitting me whenever I walk near a television in our house.
Plus I do actually think it's harmful as they usually perpetuate bad ideas about how life should be. And possess an incredibly rigid notion of how people ought to behave. But hey as long as you obey the laws of Christmas, (this was actually a theme in one of them I believe), you will do alright.

at the world, and not a form of knowledge of how the world is….
.. all our different ways of thinking are to be considered as
different ways of looking at the one reality, each with some
domain in which it is clear and adequate…. - David Bohm
