“[The] new world order is a place where men are discriminated against, forced into a hostile environment in school and later in college, and held in contempt by society. Maybe there is no incentive to grow up anymore. It used to be that being a grown-up, responsible man was rewarded with respect, power and deference. Now, not so much.” – Dr. Helen Smith, forensic psychologist
There is a scene in "L'age de Raison" that shows kids tossing bread down a well and the bread flying out of a hole on the other side of the world. This got me thinking. Suppose we could drill a hole through the center of the earth. If one were to drop a loaf of bread down that hole, would it actually fall out the other side? I don't think so. I think the bread would oscillate and eventually hover near the center or midline of the hole.
If bees did go extinct, we could always hire people to dress up as bees and pollinate flowers with tiny feather dusters. Sure it'd be more expensive, but there are also millions of idle teens.
Sometimes when I read someone's about page on their website, book, blog (what have you) I wish that for once, instead of listing their degrees and awards, it would simply say:
I do what I love and I'm really good at it. No validation necessary.
I can see why posting these things may feel necessary, especially in the more competitive fields. Still, when I see a page too crowded with acclaims that appears to be fighting for attention, it actually turns me off. Someone who is truly among the best can survive more understated advertising of their skills.

And what’s inside will remain inside.
Will anyone ever reaches it?
I can’t tell for sure.
