I've been given a couple of interesting 'nicknames' before. In middle school, my closest friends at the time called me 'Twitchy' because I couldn't stay near a piano without my fingers twitching/touching the piano keys at least once. 'Sleepy' was a much more recent one, given to me last semester because of my tendency to fall asleep during a mid-afternoon lecture.

I wonder what other sort of nicknames people will call me by in the future.

Wow, they are the most inoffensive nicknames i've ever heard. I've never even come close to something that benign. Man, you have nice friends.

Terrible things happen to good people every day.
Consequentially, I am not one of the good people.
I am one of the terrible things.

    Thanks

I've realized that I tend to attract people who were (or who most likely were) labelled as "odd" in high school. Interestingly enough, they have made the best friends I could ever have. Thanks for reminding me of this.

"They come to witness the night without being called, a sailor's guide and a poet's tears. They are lost to sight each day without the hand of a thief."
Even when the sun is shining, I can't avoid the lightning Oh, where did the blue skies go? And why is it raining so?

What is that my sister is watching? Sounds like some My Little Pony musical or something. What the hell. I feel ill.

If I tell her what I do for a living, maybe I could end the conversation and go home without anyone left hanging.

The experience of receiving "The Giving Tree" as a present is fascinating. I am apparently a little too eager to dig into the mind of the gift-giver, having received this book quite a few times now from people who all perceive it's story in the same way and all in a completely different way to the way I see it. It is a brilliant, polarizing book which completely repulses and fascinates me.

I have found that book disturbing for my entire life. Why on earth did they give it to you?? What's their perspective?
    and it's nice enough to
    make a man
    weep, but I don't
    weep, do
    you?
