Ah, I see. Makes sense, then.

It's embarrassingly stereotypical how much I like parties.

    LOL.

I'm among the Canadians loving this. Some of us see this as a genuinely forward-moving cultural shift. It's shedding us of our coward-identity. All that pent up passive compliance is vascillating to the other side to break the passivity bubble.

Of course, I'm hoping it will pendulum to a middle ground where Canadians can be assertive without losing their Canadian identity and getting "othered" as American. I think it would be better for both countries. I think Canada's hitting its teenage years. We're only a hundred and fiftyish years old. A bit of teenage rebellion and limit-testing is a healthy pathway toward being a mature adult country.

I hate humans. They either take advantage of you or get in the way when you really don't have time for it.

Interesting perspective. Though it seems to me, by most measures, Canada is as mature as most 'adult' countries.

This brings to mind (and this is a bit random) an episode of No Reservations I watched (I think it was No Reservations). Anthony Bourdain (<I think) was in Singapore, which has only been self-governed since 1959. He asked something to the effect of why Singaporeans seem to care so much about their food. The reply was 'because it's the only freaking heritage we have'.

My point is, the way distinct heritages develop or merge is fascinating, so it'll be cool to see where Canadian/American cultures differ or are similar in, say, 50-someting years, assuming I'm alive and alert then (and seeing how Singaporean culture has changed should be cool too).
