    The problem with English is that it's a bastard language: a mix of Latin, Greek, Norse, Anglo-Saxon ("Old English") and Norman-French, with the odd word from other languages thrown in.

    It's not awesome when it comes to phonology, in my opinion.

    The only awesome thing about it is that it gives English a very broad vocabulary. Instead of "fixing it" (French origin) you could have "repaired it" (another of French origin) or "mended it" (Old English).
