When it comes to memory recall in general, I really have fuzzy visual memories. Music tends to work as a better facilitator to memory, but it's usually the mood it has and impressions of it that end up creating the imagery I see. It's as if my memories are impressionist paintings, with a haze around it. I struggle with detailed sensory recall. I like nostalgia, but it isn't like I am able to capture the exact detailed essence of what happened to me when and how things looked. I tend to see things based off of a concept of likeness, or stages of my life. It's as if music symbolises those time periods for me. During the time that the memories were encoded, I felt more in tune with my inner world and what I was daydreaming about, which includes music, rather than being truly involved with present reality. I've often struggled to view present reality unfiltered without the inner dialogue and map of images and concepts and symbolic storylines, and these have typically been independent of what is currently going on in front of me.

Just the way my mind works. lol
I identify with this a lot! Except that I can remember sensory information really well. I don't remember facts or chronology related to memories well at all. I see my memories as a kind of collage of pictures and sensations, with colors relating to everything. It's kind of spread out over a timeline, but it goes into the ancient past with previous lives and the future as well- so being so into the big picture, I can zoom in, but it'll still focus on the ideas and not complete episodes.

wheelchairdoug: so adorable it's almost causing me physical pain
Sometimes I wonder if I make any sense to other people. Then they look at me like I have three heads, or get laughter when I was being serious and I have my answer.

I love how I can't have my entire post be a quote.

Last week I had ginger ale for the first time in my life (note: I'm not American) and I think I found the love of my life. No other drink ever made me burp like this!
