I think songwriting for pop music is copywriting at its best.

In copywriting, you have write stuff that sells and easy to understand. You need to grab the consumer's attention with catchy lines that ring in their heads.... the same can be said of writing for pop music.

Note to self: do not finish the morning's coffee just 'cause at 3am.

Well for a lot of the stuff that passes for it at the minute, I think from about the ninties and so called brit pop I've couldnt tell you who the artists are or what they songs have been, truthfully, I'd struggle to put together a playlist from the tunes I hear piped into restaurants or coffee shops I frequent.

    It's all instantly forgetable.

On the other hand some of it is good enough to entertain for the limited time I'm listening to it, I'll not want to turn it all off when it comes on the radio, just most of it.

If I could write radio jingles, think of titles for books or tag lines for advertising I'd make a fortune, it seems to be the only thing that matters in marketing now.

The whole thing was debated recently in the UK by comedians who thought people taping their gigs on phones were ruining their repeat sales or acts, some live music events have complained about the same thing and some havent but I wonder about it myself because live music or live events for me I'll go to because its live, not because its an amateur photo or filming op, there's a lot of cool rants about this in the movie God Bless America, which deserves to be more well known than Kick Ass.

Point taken. But the good pop songs are the kinds that ring in your head when the beat comes on... and it stays and comes back to your head like, 6 hours later.

I wonder why I haven't purchased a firearm yet. I have fun whenever I go shooting... You'd think I'd have one by now. I guess I'm just content with my collection of very sharp things.

I love re-fried beans so much; let's invent re-re-fried beans.

Yeah, like... 21 hour old coffee. It was almost like an iced frappuccino.
