^^^ Isn't that the way it always works?!
Murphy Brown: What is it with us? Why can't we take the easy road once in awhile?
Avery Brown: Because it's boring and dishonest and uncomfortable, like wearing a pair of shoes all day that pinch your feet.

Well, yeah. I'm just expressing my bafflement because I've never heard an explanation for this peculiarity. It always confuses me.
Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why. Then do it.

Oh, I didn't mean that as annoyed at you, but rather sharing your bafflement at the phenomenon.

    Grades are arbitrary anyway.

I wouldn't have recognized that you were annoyed even if you were. I was just responding with an explanation of my bafflement.

Shush, you! I know they're not indicative of actual knowledge, but how am I going to brag around if I don't get A's?

No, but then you'll have to double it tomorrow.

The worst mistake people make in political arguments is assuming that the other side is not trying to do the right thing. This simple oversight makes productive conversation nearly impossible.
