What would happen if Socrates and Descartes got into an argument? I think it would be awesome.

Descartes: I think, therefore I am.
[Socrates pulls out gun and shoots him]
    Socrates: No, you're not.

Socrates would win because Descartes would never make any dang decision about reality other than that it exists whereas Socrates would use a logical method to discern the truth from fiction not also to mention that Socrates never lost debates because he never tried to win them but rather they were used as a learning experience to recognize our own ignorance.

But all Socrates ever does is ask questions.

They would be zombies, so I imagine the argument would go like this:

    "Cerveau."
    "ἔγκαρος."
    "Cerveaaaaau."
    "ἔγκαρος"
    "Cerveaaau!"
    "ἔγκαρος!"

    etc

    True. But consider:
Descartes proposes to have proven the existence of God. Socrates is a polytheist. He would tear up Descartes' definition of God, and expose his circular logic. All the rhetorical questions Socrates would ask, Descartes would reply with something like, 'we can't know the answer to that.' He would bring in his ideas of degrees of reality, and Socrates would attempt logical binaries. I think either they would collectively conclude that they know nothing, or they would cause each other's heads to explode. I wonder what they would conclude about the god/s.

And yes, I have to agree with Socrates about most everything, because the wise person knows that s/he knows nothing! He's my role model.

Revenge of the Nerds. I got pulled last minute into a nerd book discussion and in a completely separate incident got roped into going to the Ren Fest this for weekend. I suppose I can't avoid my fate.
