    I turned around, laughing, and said, " Bullshit. Isn't bullshit a great word?"

    I was out drinking wine and grabbing a few appetizers with some colleagues of mine a few weeks ago.
    One of them is a very entertaining Southern U.S. fellow, a truly good man, with a hilarious sense of humor.
    He said to us at one point in the evening:

    "Do y'all know where the term "BULLSHIT" came from?"

    Everyone was perplexed. No one had any official idea of the origin of the word.

    He continued:

    "BULLSHIT! is simply short for another expression, which is "You've gotta' be shittin' me!"
    "Either way, one person is telling another, that what they just heard did not sound at all believable - but - people are prone to simplyfing things, so one day we just shortened it to "Bullshit!"
