    Your dad's "2009 taxes" folder?

No. That's what I would do in her shoes. It quickly solves the awkwardness problem. Now it's not just his bad, it's my bad, "so let's move on with the real reason I'm here." The quoted part would be my attitude about the situation.

    Ah, OK, got it.

I wouldn't delete anyone's porn because I think it's every adult's choice to make for themselves. If it happened with me and my dad and I couldn't pretend I didn't see it, I think I'd make a quick joke about it, wait to see if he would say anything, and then change the subject. Knowing my dad, I know he'd die of embarrassment and feel really ashamed if one of his daughters caught him, so I'm pretty sure he'd rather I not make a big deal or razz him too much about it.

I hate to say it, but I would delete it if he displayed awkwardness. -empties recycle bin-
    Problem solved.

Why only if he displayed awkwardness and not if he didn't? The awkward part is his knowing of your knowledge of it, so I don't get how deleting it solves it. Your way of telling him that if the evidence is gone, you can pretend it was never there in the first place?

It indicates he's ashamed. Deleting it makes it a non-issue. I wouldn't even begin to talk about or joke about this with a parent. Seeing someone you admire looking pathetic and ashamed is not funny. My first thought would be, let's make this go away and never look back.

    Ah OK, got it, thanks.

For me, I think making a quick joke would lighten it and make it less of a big deal, but it depends on the people and the dynamics between them. I would think that the more embarrassed and ashamed I acted, the more embarrassed and ashamed he would feel. But if I showed him that I thought it was funny and not a big deal, then he might not feel so bad about it.

Deleting it could be a good way to just forget about it, but some people could interpret that as being judged by you, or they might get upset that you just deleted their fav porn stash.

For clarification, it's a non-issue because now my Mom and Sisters won't stumble upon the tax folder, which would throw them into an emo tizzy, and I won't tell them it ever existed. A wise person sees the error of their ways, takes these rare opportunities of grace, and makes corrections.

BTW, this is all figuratively speaking. My Dad has integrity.

You can't have integrity if you look at porn?
I got my smile from the sunshine,
I got my tears from the rain.
I learned to dance when I saw a tiger prance,
And a peacock taught me to be vain.
A little owl in a tree so high,
He taught me how to wink my eye.
I learned to bill and coo from a turtledove,
And a grizzly bear taught me how to hug.
But the guy that lived two caves from me,
He taught me how to love.

Anything of interest in there? Speaking in the realm of Porn Parodies, BDSM, or any other weird types of fetish brands. I mean, if it's just your standard, everyday, run-of-the-mill pornography, what's the big deal? Now if he's watching like Japanese tentacle rape or something, I could see the cause for concern.
