I'm taking over liaison duties to 2 several academic departments from super-old-guy who's retiring this year. Fine. But WHY OH WHY did he have to schedule two of the hand-off meetings for today, and one of them halfway across campus over the LUNCH HOUR? Now I have to spend my lunch hour traipsing across campus, slowly, with him, and meeting with this department. Hello! Some people eat!!

[Would have been better suited for the Rant Thread but this one was readily available.]
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

When things go nicely, I can't help but be suspicious that I'm using up my quota of nice things and soon will face doom (of which there is no quota). I hate paranoia.

Just got back from AEI. The meeting went well.

I'm about to begin their application process for job's/internships. Here we go again.

Is the AEI better than the lobbyist firm?

I would say it's comparing apples to oranges.

AEI is however one of the most prominent conservative think tanks in the country.

In strict terms of which is more prestigious, AEI hands down.

I would say it is fair to compare apples with oranges when asked what you prefer to eat.

Have you left the other firm already? If so, why?

The project we were all working on ended, and they let all the temps go.

They only have a full time staff of like 9 or 10.

They let about 20 temps go over the course of about 3 weeks.

"To do" list is like the Hydra--knock one task out, two pop up to take its place.
