I feel like its chaotic when someone changes their name, because I'm all like ooh new person I should possibly avoid until i accidently read a post of theirs, so I might accidently avoid people i actually like if they changed their name. Then they'll think I'm an asshole and that i hate them all of a sudden.
    What, why is name-changing needed?

Sometimes it's to start fresh, even if people still know who you are.
Sometimes people picked a username they didn't identify with and finally found something they like better.
Sometimes there are issues with unwanted online attention and it helps a bit to fade away.
Sometimes you might want a different userid here than on other sites.
Sometimes people have used parts of their real name in their userid, so they change it.
Sometimes people change their names/identity in RL and want their userid to fit better here.
    Sometimes people get bored.
Sometimes people just have names with negative connotations.

    Lots of reasons, really.
So we permit it, we just try to limit it.

I misspelled my username when I entered TypeC, so can I change my name to Saint Kat? Because my name is Kat, not Kar.
I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower. The TV was obviously on. I used to fly myself and I said, "There's one terrible pilot."

That's true, but I didn't want to think of it, because now I feel like a dick. but the bored of name isn't a good reason in my opinion, i don't remember people's names hell I still have to look up my phone number when giving it to someone. Well that doesn't have anything to do with names, I just felt like it would demonstrate how shitty my memory has become in my quartered age.

You can figure out, sometimes, that someone has changed their name, by posting style, when they go, 'hey look!I changed my name weeeeeeeeee!', or the join date is 50 years ago, but that person didn't exist 50 years ago and, you're like waaiiit a minute....you might be a time traveler or your hiding something. did you commit genocide and now just want to live a normal life? what did you do???
    In no likes experiment.

    that is all

i dunno what else to say so

    Random question:
What does "Peguy" mean anyway? Anything?

Charles Peguy was a French writer and poet who was killed in WWI. Here's a summary of the man's life:
The genius of Pguy lies mainly in the ways he tried to bring simpruths to bear on the whole modern world. Sheer intellect would take him to the Ecole Normale Superieure and the Sorbonne, the twin summits of the French educational system. But except for some activity in political causes, he would live a largely uneventful life at least in the way most people conceive of events. His activity consisted in a wide-ranging attempt to retrieve an authentic spiritual life from the various incrustations that were making it difficult to find, even for simple people. Despite the underlying simplicity of his words, they have a brilliance and authority that revitalize politics, mysticism, war, peace, love, honor, and death. In him, the timeless depths of the classical and Christian past suddenly find a new voice that is also a prophetic and urgent message to the present.

Pguy was killed by a bullet through the head during the Battle of the Marne in 1914. He had anticipated his death in a poem:

Blessd are those whom a great battle leaves
Stretched out on the ground in front of Gods face,
Blessd the lives that just wars erase,
Blessd the ripe wheat, the wheat gathered in sheaves.

It was a dramatic end to a heroic life. He was barely forty.

In a different age, Pguy might have founded a religious order. As it turned out, he did something even more difficult: He lived a life of complete intellectual and spiritual integrity in the modern world.
