It is not Friday the 13th and can never be as it is always the Friday in the fourth week of November.

The Black Friday is traditionally the Friday after Thanksgiving and one of the days that see the most revenue in sales on consumer products in the year.

The name is said to originate from either:

    a) the black mass as that people in front of the shopping malls appear
    b) all the stores get to write black numbers in their books
    c) the merchants get black hands from counting all the money

Und nur fr Dich hier ein Wikilink :-)

I've always heard it's the second explanation. I.e. a lot of merchants get out of "the red" and into profit territory on the day after Thanksgiving.

Hell no, I don't. I try to shop as little as possible in general.

I voted that I loathe it and said no, which has been a rule now for 26 years- crowds really irk me...

... however, this year I'm putting on my pointiest toed shoes and heading out to pick up a big screened tv that's on a fantastic sale because I was asked to nicely, it isn't my money, and I get to watch things on it

watch for me in the news I suppose... GIRL STABS 20 WITH EARRING BECAUSE "CROWD WAS CREEPY"

Yes. I go clothes shopping twice a year: Once on Black Friday for winter clothes and the other during spring for summer gear.

    In case you were wondering:

    - Blue, pin-stripe pants.
    - Gray sweater, and a tan sweater.
    - One of those tight, white shirts like the gay dude has at work.
    - Black dress shoes.
    - A black belt with a flat, square buckle . . . like the gay dude at work.
    - A blue plaid, V-neck, thin sweater.
    - Batteries for my watches.
    - A Caps seventies-style jogging jacket.
    - Something for my wife . . . maybe.
