I'm "neutral" - the midwest map is correct, now... although I don't really consider myself "from" this area. I was kind of thinking I'd get "West".

And the soda/pop/coke thing is funny. When I first moved here for school, we had a big discussion about that (people moved here from all over). When I was a kid (Texas), it was "coke". When I moved out west (Idaho), it was "pop". Here, it's "soda" - which seemed really weird to me when I first moved here, but now it's more or less normal. Although it is funny when people from other areas go to the South and order "Coke" in a restaurant (expecting to get the specific brand), and get asked what kind of coke they want .

Except for the fact that I'd sound like an idiot saying that in a Nathan Explosion type of voice.

That alone is the true test of a word

I guess it has a Low German base. The waspies do not count.

Which American accent do you have?

    My Results:

Neutral You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.
I was told a few times that I have a mild valley girl accent.

Western Western is kind of neutral, but not quite since it`s still possible to tell where you`re from. So you might not actually be from the West (but you probably are). If you really want to sound "neutral," learn how to say "stock" and "stalk" differently.
Well, that was predictable, considering that I've mostly lived in one or another of the West Coast states.

    Snap.

Although we would still sound very different. Just because when we say "father" it doesn't rhyme with "bother", we would still say "father" differently.

    New Zealander: f??ther
Jersey: f????ther (at a guess, I'm new to this IPA stuff)

Why do we always come here?

    I guess we'll never know.

    Northeastern

This could either mean an r-less NYC or Providence accent or one from Jersey which doesn't sound the same. Just because you got this result doesn't mean you don`t pronounce R's.(People in Jersey don`t call their state "Joisey" in real life)
