    Default Jelly or Jam?

Do you prefer smooth jelly or chucky jam?

(jam is the kind that has fruit chunks in it)

Depends on what it's being used for, jam gets a bit sticky.

Most definatly jam, or as some regions call it preserves. Hands down. (God it has been so long have said something with so much certainty...it makes me feel like an INTJ...what a RUSH)

You know I always thought Jelly was the US term or Jam... now I understand.

And it depends... Lemon curd - definately smooth, straberry jam - defo with bits... Rasberry jam - without the seeds...

I call it all jelly, I know it aint right, but I like it smooth usually.

Unless...I'm having some buttfattening homemade biscuits or something. Then I'll take the chunky stuff.

    Lemon curd! DROOL

I don't like chunky jam, but I don't like the super-smooth jelly that seems like Jell-O either. Actually, if I may be nitpicky, I think what I like is jam, and what has actual fruit chunks in it is called preserves. I don't care for preserves.

This may be a US thing but I define jelly as the condiment with similar consistency to Jell-O brand gelatin or a jellyfish. Cleary jelly stuff to mix with peanut butter or on toast (i.e. Welch’s Grape Jelly) .

Jam/preservatives are pretty much everything else (crushed fruit sauce preserved with sugar) although it does have its subcategories (all natural fruit spread, seedless jam, applebutter, marmalade etc.).

The only time I eat jelly is usually if there is no jam available. For some reason this only happens when on the rare occasion when I am hungover. When it happens it usually happens in a breakfast restaurant whereby I have it with toast speed thin with a lot of butter. Don't like how the jelly feels in my mouth (worse when hungover).
