Here's a good one: when showering, I invariably drift off into thought and then realize I don't know where I've already washed and where I haven't. (Most frequently I can't recall whether I washed my hair or not.)
You know what that means, don't you?
It means you're highly intelligent!
I LOVE it when my kids walk into a room and forget what they went there for,
so I don't have to feel so bad when I do it!
I can never remember whether or not I put sweetener in my coffee. Absentmindedly I'll ask the people around me, instead of just taking a sip. And it's every single time. Unless of course I'm alone, where I'll either overdose or get a nasty shock from no sweetener.
I'll get a delayed shock to things because I'm thinking about something else, so usually, if I hear a loud sound, it'll take me a sec to react to it by flinching.
I can't function without a calendar. I have a hard time remembering the simplest appointments. Ironically, I only learned how to use one (i.e. write things down and look at the bloody thing) a couple of years ago.
A number of times I've quit smoking, forgotten about it, and quit that resolution halfway into the pack I innocently bought shortly after the non-smoking decision.
In the same vein, I'll have a stretches of a few days where I forget to smoke.
I need post-its on my mirrors and drawers and things like that to remind me to brush my hair and teeth, remove makeup etc. every day. If there are no post-its or somebody who's doing it next to me, it just won't occur to me to do these things. It's insanely annoying.
At my restaurant there is a bin to throw the silverware in, a hamper for the linen, a trashcan to throw the excess food in, and then finally the counter to put the dirty dishes on. I can not tell you how many times I have chucked the silverware into either the trash or linen hamper, or have tossed linen in the trashcan just because I was thinking about other things...and ewwww I hate pulling stuff out of the trash so I can put it in its proper place.
The biggest things for me are 1. did I remember to put deodorant on? and 2. did I lock the door/turn off the headlights on the car? I always do remember, but at least twice a week I'll have a momentary freakout.
