My heart warmed a bit when you wrote that How can I forget the creepy willows and such!!
Oh me too. Most definitely. I don't think I'd have one nearly as big as in the movies.. but with the ILLUSION of being big.. like having a huge entryway or something with a spiral staircase ala Casper style.
If I ever get well off enough to build my own home on my property, you better believe I will design it like this. And you better believe I'll throw MBTI halloween parties
MBTI Halloween Parties in your scary mansion would so rock.
Yeah, that's always been my first priority if I were to come into a large sum of money...to buy an older home and restore it.

Kyuuei, I suspect it will be costly. On the bright side, I am willing to go halfsies on this venture because it just sounds f*cking AWESOME. We must marry. And live in our awesome tumble down haunted house together.

There was that famous serial killer during the time of the Chicago World Fair who killed female patrons of his specially designed murder hotel-find out how much he spent, adjusted for inflation, and you'll have your answer (google the story anyway, its very interesting).
If the mansion was just sitting there, run down, in the state of "real fixer-upper", considered haunted, and unable to keep residents for more than a few months...it would not be worth very much at all. You would pretty much be paying for the land it's on the property value would be so terrible.
For example, while not a mansion, most houses in downtown Savannah sell in the millions. 12 West Oglethorpe has been abandonned since 1990, maybe even before that and has a track record of being haunted and unable to keep owners/tenants. At the moment, there is no listed lease price available. It is probably in such poor condition that it is effectively worthless.

I'm a Victorian home lover too. I want to design & build a new one of my own.
I also want a big pool with a scaled-down Spanish galleon next to it.
The ship would have a diving board on it, a bedroom in the back of it, and a small kitchen.
I have a book called "America's Painted Ladies." That has tons of pictures of great Victorian homes. Highly recommended.
