Let's change the subject slightly, shall we?

How do miserable pricks stop becoming miserable pricks?

Sadly, this is mostly hardwired into us... it's biological and not easy to change.

The best one can do is reduce stresses and such to reach our maximum threshold of "balance".

(In some ways, this is defined by extroversion... sad to say for the Is here!)

And how exactly do we define miserable pricks?

I was generalizing. In my experience if you aren't a nice person to start off with, money will not make you a nicer person. Do you disagree?

I've worked with people who were filthy rich and the shit that they worry about and have to deal with is very stressful imo. Having more money allows you to do pretty much anything you want which isn't always a great thing. I like planning on what I want to purchase and saving for it. I find that I appreciate things more if they aren't' just handed to me. I've been in situations where money wasn't an issue and I bought whatever I wanted. I still felt lonely (this was before was married) and I actually spent it all and felt worse afterwards. Some of it was well spent, but a lot of it was frivolous.

Today I am better. I still like nice things, but it's not just me anymore (Husband & 3 kids) so I am more responsible and planning ahead these days.

But happy people aren't necessarily nice.

And being allowed to do whatever I want certainly would make me happy.

All I need is a top-of-the-line computer to be happy. Money, in addition to buying access to hobbies, also brings a great sense of security. I'd say that would make one happy, would it not?

some people are happy being not nice!

If you give me money I can settle this debate by seeing if it makes me happier though!

Well, through personal experience, I find that I am indeed more unhappy when I have to be around other people, but I'm perfectly fine on my own, like when I'm watching movies and playing PC games.
