    A picture doesn't prove anyone's gender.

I've met too many people from online to hide behind the "i might not be who I say I am" thing. It makes it interesting since I'm not really anonymous anymore.

They're dicking around on internet forums. They don't.

It's me, really! All I need is a kiss

Seriously though, not me. But my profile picture is. I think someone told me I looked like Bill Murray at one time.

I did this once back in 1994 on AOL (not photo, but name/profile). I was on some chat group looking to get some info/help with something, and I was being totally ignored. Changed my username and profile to be very woman, and suddenly people were falling all over themselves to talk to me. Female profiles do have a distinct advantage when it comes to attention whoring on-line, and I believe an attractive avatar has a subconscious effect, even if you know it to be false.

you are definitely right about the avatar and its attractiveness overflowing into your perception of the person. hell, i feel that way when i look at my own nyoto uhura avatar! i'm like, damn, i'm a smart, hawt woman! hahaha. i will forever think the same about ceecee and barberella and kangirl as well. and anyone else who uses sexy avatar pics. it just gets stuck in the brain, eh?
