it totally depends on the person. on some long hair does nothing for them and can just look uncut and boring...like mine right now...i hate growing it out and will probably give up soon...i've always liked shortish on me...but love long hair on the right person.

    same answer for guys.

I like short cuts on men, but i think different women look good with different cuts. I've played around with hair lengths too, from a very short boy type cut to long, just below the shoulders, and i always prefer something in the middle. I also look better with something in the middle.

It also depends on the definitions of "short," "medium," and "long."

^ Oy. I tried to outline short, medium, and long on the men moreso.. but I think short is considered neck-length up, while medium is shoulder-length to mid-back, and long hair is anything longer than mid-back.

For the women, I like shoulder-length (or close to it; at least between ear & chin level or longer) or longer. It's that unmistakably "feminine" quality about such hair that does it for me

lol @ "shorter" hair being shoulder-height for a guy! yikes.

I think long hair (edit: longer than a couple inches) looks ok on some guys, but it is usually a vast improvement when it's cut. Long ponytails are often gross-looking.

I like long hair on girls though, although short hair also suits some girls (depends on your face structure, mostly).

I used to prefer my hair really long, but now I'm a fan of medium length hair. On men, I hate long hair. No offense to anyone, but I find it gross. =/

What's kind of funny is that women don't either.
There was a stretch of time where long haired guys were actually popular. I missed that boat, however.

It's such an odd thing. It's really obvious how social aesthetics are. They come and go in such trends.

I had to keep in mind that many men have hair longer than the shoulder.. normally I identify long hair with anything past the chin.

I must be old fashioned then with my desire for long hair (in women; I try to keep my own hair short, it grows like an afro if I let it grow out)
