Default Not even being facetious here!

I ask this of genuine curiosity, knowing that there are people posting on this board who are knowledgeable in such matters and further knowing that we are a speculative bunch:

What's all of this you hear about alcohol (amongst other things) killing brain cells? If that was the case, why am, er, IS my, er, twin brother wink not retarded by now?
Dost thou love Life? Then do not squander Time; for that's the Stuff Life is made of.

I was hoping for something more scientific, but thanks for depressing me.

I am bewildered that scientists have yet to admit that practically everything can kill you.

But anyway, I would imagine that any lack of motivation can kill brain cells, because your brain isn't being used, so it becomes dormant. I would imagine that engaging in any sort of activity would lessen that tendency, getting the mind back on track.

The problem with alcohol is that the typical alcoholic (in America, at least) already has motivational problems, and alcohol, as a depressant, doesn't make the problem any better.

Although, alcohol does lessen the tendency toward anxiety, making you more at ease in situations, but still a lack of that anxiety can also make mental processes more dormant if done continuously.

I don't think it's alcohol that kills the brain cells, but the co-morbidities of alcoholism, such as depression or lack of motivation, are what can put some people at risk.

There hasn't been a considerate amount of brain cells killed yet probably because you started drinking not long ago since you're a young guy.
Drink more and you'll see the difference! :P

But that would require use of my inferior function!

And why the sarcasm? Now I begin to question my own type!

EDIT: Okay, with much effort, I engaged my Se function to coordinate the mouse arrow to Nat's link. Is the article trying to say that by drinking alcohol, I can feel less anxious about everything and start doing something? Alcohol is a miracle drug! Now I know why Jesus turned water into wine!!!
